About Gujarat Judicial Services Examination
- For candidates hoping to become civil judges in the Indian state of Gujarat, there is a competitive exam called the Gujarat Judiciary Exam. There are three stages to the exam: the preliminary exam, the mains exam, and the interview. The Gujarat High Court is in charge of administering the examination.
- While the mains examination consists of subjective questions, the preliminary examination is a multiple-choice exam. Those who pass both exams and qualify for the preliminary examination can take the mains examination and go to the interview.

The Gujarat Judiciary eligibility 2024 criteria are as follows:
Gujarat Judiciary eligibility Criteria for Age:
- Candidates for the General Category must be at least 35 years old by the deadline for online applications.
- Until the age of 38, candidates who fall into the categories of disabled persons (PH), ex-servicemen, and socially and educationally backward classes (SC, ST) are entitled to apply.
- Workers in the judicial system or related departments may be eligible for an age relaxation of up to five years, depending on the total number of years of service, whatever is less.
- As of the deadline for submitting the online application procedure, no candidate, regardless of category, may be older than 40.
Gujarat Judiciary eligibility criteria for Education:
- On the last day to submit your online application, you must be a practicing attorney in courts of civil or criminal jurisdiction and have a law degree from any university recognized by Indian law (or)
- To be eligible for the Gujarat civil judge examination in 2023, you must have taken the All India Bar Examination if you obtained your law degree in 2011–2021 and later (or)
- On the last day that applications will be accepted; you must be employed by the Courts or other Allied Departments (or)
- You also need to have a foundational understanding of computer applications via a government agency or another accredited organization.
Gujarat judicial services exam eligibility for Nationality:
- Candidates who hold citizenship in another country are not permitted to submit an application for the Gujarat Judiciary Examination.
- The fundamental prerequisite for the application process and a necessary qualification is Indian citizenship.
- Candidates should not be engaged in any illegal activities including immoral or morally objectionable actions, and they should be in excellent bodily and mental health.
Gujarat Judiciary Examination Pattern
For the Preliminary Exam:
- Exams of this type are objective, carrying 100 marks, and have two hours to complete.
- Every multiple-choice question receives one mark, with a 0.33 negative mark applied.
- Prelim questions consist of 75 English questions and 25 Gujarati questions.
- Candidates must earn a minimum of 50% to qualify for the mains exam.
For the Mains Exam:
- The mains written exam will be of the descriptive variety.
- English will be the language used on the main exam question paper. If not told differently, individuals can respond to the questions in either Gujarati or English.
- The following are the minimum qualifying scores for the main exam:
- For Scheduled Tribe & Scheduled Caste: 45% of the total marks
- For Other Category: 50% of the total marks.
For the Interview Round:
- A 50-mark viva-voce exam will be required.
- The goal of the viva-voce exam is to determine a candidate’s fitness for the cadre by evaluating their level of mental alertness, legal knowledge, and logical and concise exposition.
- In addition, it assesses the candidate’s judgment, abilities, ethics, absorption capacity, communication ability, character, depth of thought, analytical aptitude, and other attributes.
Gujarat Judiciary Examination: Procedure for Application
- Online registration is the first step. By clicking the link on the official website, you can register for the test.
- Once you click the link, a screen with the necessary fields to fill out will display.
- All necessary information must be entered, along with a registered cell phone number.
- The “save” button will cause your application number to show up in a new window.
- Re-enter the portal now with your application number and birthdate, then upload your photo and signature.
- By selecting the “Edit Application” icon, you can read the online form prior to submitting it in its entirety. Once you click the “confirm application” button, you cannot edit the registration form.
- Your registered mobile number will receive an SMS when you click the confirmation icon.
- The last step is to pay the charge, which you can choose to do online or offline. For your own reference, hold onto the fee receipt to prevent future inconsistencies.
- Print the application form on an A4 piece of paper, then store it for later use.
