  1. How RJS different from other judiciary exams?

Every state has its own judiciary exam syllabus and pattern. Though the major subjects like the Constitution, CPC, and Evidence Act do remain the same in all the judiciaries, there are some differences in all the judiciary exams. The following differences make the RJS different from other judiciaries:

  • Type of questions: Generally, it has been seen that the types of questions that are asked in RJS are mostly bare-act based, especially in the preliminary examination. While RJS preparation, one should also be mindful of the enactment or enforcement dates of the acts as well as the major amendments. The main examination also primarily includes direct questions, and a small portion of the questions are conceptual-based.
  • Memory-based exam: RJS is primarily a memory-based exam wherein a candidate must reflect on her memory in both prelims and the main examination. Direct section numbers are asked in the prelims, and in the main exam, a candidate is required to attempt the questions with the appropriate provisions and case laws. Bare acts are not allowed; therefore, not much significance is paid to the concept-wise questions.
  • Number of marks a question carries: In other marks, it is seen that a question may carry as many as 30 marks; however, in RJS, the maximum number of marks a question may have is 6. Therefore, here the number of questions is higher.
  • Judgment writing: The RJS exam primarily covers the judgment writing portion, wherein around 20% weight is given to it. Through this, the exam seeks to check and evaluate the concept clarity of the individuals.
  • Language Part: The RJS exam includes language as a major part of its syllabus. Both Hindi and English are given equal weight. In the prelims, it includes grammar, and in the main examination, the candidates are required to write essays. Except for the language papers, candidates are at liberty to attempt the paper in any of the two languages.
  • No GK is included in the syllabus; no direct GK is asked in the examination. However, students have some general knowledge of how to write their essays efficiently.
  • Knowledge about Rajasthani culture: Though it directly doesn’t  form part of the syllabus, it has been seen that in language papers, generally they do ask some essays from Rajastani culture.
