In Kanhiyalal v State of Rajasthan, AIR 1989 SC 1515, It was determined that the person being charged was a the attacker and was not granted the right of private defence because the harms he endured were less severe than those he caused to the deceased people and he even went so far as to stop an eyewitness from taking the victim to the medical facility.
Here the aggressor/attacker has stopped the aiding facility to the victim, here even the individual can exercise right to private defence to provide aid to victim.
