Acid attack

The Criminal Law (Amendment) Act of 2013 added a new provision to the part in response to the Justice Verma Committee’s recommendations. If the misconduct that justifies the use of the right is against a hurling or throwing acid act or an attempt to use or throw acid that may appropriately cause a fear that grievous harm will otherwise be the consequence of such act, clause 7 of section 100 allows the self-defense, just as the section allows the voluntary causing of death or of any other harm to the attacker.
